Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What do you mean by expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs)?

  • eQTLs are regions of the genome containing DNA sequence variants that influence the expression level of one or more genes.

eQTLs may act in cis (locally) or trans (at a distance) to a gene.

  • What do you mean by Transcription factors (TF)?

  • Transcription factors are proteins involved in the process of converting, or transcribing, DNA into RNA.

Transcription factors include a wide number of proteins, excluding RNA polymerase, that initiate and regulate the transcription of genes.

  • Why some of the information (e.g. gene name, SNP id, etc.) is missing in the results that I get?

  • We gather the data for Non-HIPC studies from public resources (e.g. literature). We process and perform the necessary data completion/transformation as much as possible. However, there is still missing information in some of the datasets.

  • Why does it take too long to visualize the results of my query?

  • The time it takes to visualize the results of your query may depend on various factors. However, one of the main factors is the number of datasets included in your query. If your query involves multiple datasets with large volumes, loading and processing will take a longer time.

To alleviate the side effects of having multiple datasets in your query, we suggest that you begin with a limited number of datasets and then modify your query to add more datasets incrementally.

  • Why can't I see/visualize the results for my private study(ies)?

  • The user/private datasets you upload to immuneRegulation must be formatted in a certain way to properly visualize the data. Please make sure your dataset is formatted accordingly (e.g. columns, column headers) with the instructions before uploading to immuneRegulation.
